I tend to agree with You Lisa. My other site got to PR4 solely on link exchanges. I rarely do much of search engine advertising. I know I should to increase the traffic. But it was a well worth it experiment. I have around 10000 links traded on most of my sites. And I entered them into over 800 different directories. That alone brings me good traffic.
What is Your site anyway?

"Reciprocal links are pretty much worthless for search engine value these days."

Completely wrong.. I've got a jewelry business website that I started up this past January. I've promoted it solely with link exchanges with quality sites where women are discussion fashion and accessories. My page rank went from 0 to 5 in the past 11 months. I have about 320 link exchanges and I publish another 100 one ways. My search rankings are solid for my primary keywords. I dont link up with junk sites. I maintain control over who I link with by using linksmanager. 40% of my traffic comes from the link exchanges. The other 60% or so is from search engines.

Link exchange is alive and well! What does not work is linking in heavy volume to sites irrelevant to your own.
