Why so many ads?

14 06 2007

I was asked why I have so much advertising on this site. The answer is very simple. I am trying to figure out which of them:

  1. Show the most relevant ads
  2. Easier to maintain

  3. Do bring income

So far I have found that Google’s adsense while showing relevant ads (most of the time) does not pay for the clicks. Time and time again I have checked my account only to find out that the clicks bring in less money than no clicks at all.

Bidvertiser I find the most disturbing. I have approved many ads and the most relevant possible. However they only show the those ads that have no value and some of them lead to sites that are just crap. Bidvertiser demands a lot from publishers while not even checking who or what the advertiser is. I am continuing to run their ads only because my testing period has not ended. But if they do not improve I will remove them and certainly aren’t going to use their services as an advertiser.

I have being using Adbrite for a long time now and while I find their new pricing policy terrible I also find that they are one of the best for publishers so far. You are able to set the pricing for Your site and enter a competitors ads. I use Adsense to set the limit for adbrite. So if they do not have advertisers who are paying a minimum required amount Adbrite shows Adsense ads. This way I am not loosing at all.

I also have started to use the Entireweb advertising program (the ad is at the bottom). I am interested in them very much as i found them to be very good to advertisers. It is also a good bonus that they are a search engine.

I will keep You all updated as to how my testing is going.

Digg hacked?

13 06 2007

It seems that Digg buttons got hacked in by some Chinese site. If You look at the end of the posts on this blog You’ll notice that they have an over 60 number of Diggs. I decided to see who has been digging all the stories and clicked on the button. I was taken to the Digg site which referred to an article I never even heard of for the site I have never seen before. I checked the comments and it seems that I was not the only one. My only guess is that someone has been able to hack the buttons. I am wondering whether it is a WP only.

New toy

This is probably the coolest feed reader I have ever seen. Move Your mouse over the bubbles to see the names of tags. This is actually the feed of this blog. All the tags are converted to Bubbles.
The service is provided by Newzbubble. Thank You to LGRCE for showing me this cool widget.
